| Colour: | Beutifully coloured. Above grey-brown with rufous-brown rump. Undersurface yellow-brown. Face dark with a vivid white cheek-stripe. Its ears are marked with black and white. |

| Form: | A medium-sized macropod with thick padded hindfeet and short claws. It has a long cylindrical tail. | ||||||||||||||||
| Distribution: | From the upper Richmond and Clarence Rivers in New South Wales to Victoria. | ||||||||||||||||
| Habitat: | Suitable rocky areas in open forest of inland and coastal areas. | ||||||||||||||||
| Nests: | Shelters during the day under rock overhangs and in caves. | ||||||||||||||||
| Food: | Feeds on grasses, herbs and shrub foliage. | ||||||||||||||||
| Predators: | Foxes | ||||||||||||||||
| Human Influence: | Many colonies of the Brush-tailed Wallaby are now in secure sanctuaries. There is competition with introduced herbivores such as feral goats. | ||||||||||||||||
| Abundance: | The Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby may be common in quite restricted areas. | ||||||||||||||||
| Features: | The Brush-tailed Rock-wallaby is crespuscular, coming out to feed at both dusk and dawn, and nocturnal, feeding at night. It is mostly a solitary animal but may occur in small bands. It is terrirorial. This muscular wallaby can leap up to four metres among rocks and can climb very steep slopes. | ||||||||||||||||
